About Me
Who I am & What I do:
HI! I’m Jeanne. I’m a mom, grandmom, wife & avid DIYer. Some might even describe me as a serial DIYer.
I help others like you gain the confidence to DIY.
There are 2 ways that I do that for you:
1. By writing about the projects I do & then sharing them with you
2. Providing supply lists & instructions, along with encouragement so you, too, can become an avid DIYer
You’re in the right place if you are….
- Looking for inspiration
- Wanting to explore your creativity
- Itching to fix up your home
- Afraid to do it yourself but also don’t want to pay someone else to do it and having to rely on their schedule
- Enjoy thrifting and like to reuse and repurpose items
- Interested in learning how to make easy, economical gifts
- Just wanting to read about someone who jumps in and figures out how to do it herself
My Story
I guess you can say that my love for DIY & thrifting started when I was little. My mom used to make most of our clothes, including swimsuits and undies. She taught me to sew on a Singer sewing machine that she bought in 1958 (she still uses it today). I sewed many of my own clothes when I was in high school and continue to do that even now. For the clothes we bought, we would head to Goodwill. Going there was like going on a treasure hunt – I loved finding unique pieces of clothing.
It wasn’t until we bought our first home that I expanded my DIY passion into home improvement. At that time, much of my DIY was centered around home décor: painting, wallpaper, trim & furniture refinishing. Of course, I also continued sewing: for myself, my kids, home décor items, and gifts.
As I dabbled in DIY I developed this ability to see beyond what was in front of me. I saw the spaces in my home with fresh eyes and I believed that I could achieve the function and the look that I desired for my home no matter my budget.
Over the years, my DIY expanded to include tiling, faux painting, wall texture, landscape, woodworking; and my tools grew from painting supplies to power tools.
It was common for someone to ask what project I was currently working on. It did seem like I was perpetually in the middle of a project. That was when I decided to start a blog. It would be a way to document all of my projects and be able to share them with others, like you, as inspiration and encouragement. Anyone can DIY, it just takes a little courage & inspiration. Good tools help too!
Why I do it
The absolute BEST part of why I share my DIY projects is to have a positive impact on people like you! Many of my readers are afraid to tackle projects on their own; you may feel like that too. So, I am here to encourage you by showing how it can be done and how great it feels when you have completed a project that’s you’ve wanted to do for a long time. What a remarkably beautiful thing!
So, grab a cup of coffee, tea or a glass of vino and come join me in the DIY journey….
